Ariane

Watching Tanah Air, I was very much affected emotionally and physically by the non-verbal forms of performance, and at times got lost in watching the performance or surtitles that I lost track of the narrative. So I tried to respond to that, to write in a way that captured how I processed the music, the dance, the physical movements and tableaux of the piece. I wanted to create a sonic, aural representation of my experience watching the play, but due to time constraints, I decided to use language instead (and how words can act as percussion or musical device). And this is what came out of it.
