1st assignment: making sense of the stage and your positionality
This was the students’ first assignment – it was intended to be an exploratory one, focusing on their approaches to writing (tone, voice, positionality, etc), critique and performance analysis. This initial piece helped all of us to get a sense of where we were writing from and the kind of position the students were hoping to take in the performance ecosystem (e.g. mainstream print media, personal blog, regional online platform, etc). We went through a first draft in class and, after comments from the group, they submitted a reworked final draft (which you can read here).
