3rd assignment: creative criticism and performance writing
This final piece looked at forms of creative criticism and performance writing: these creative projects could take a written form: a hand-made zine, an interactive Twine, a letter to the artist; or an audio-visual form: a continued exploration of the podcast, a recorded post-show discussion facilitated by the students, a video log, a series of voice recordings, a series of Instagram stories. We looked at how the form and the content of various critical responses can echo or reflect the form of the performance we’ve encountered. How can text become performance, or capture the texture, the viscera and the ephemera of the live event?
